CD-36 Ethiopian Liturgy

Live from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tawahedo Church

A unique and ancient Christian community, the Ethiopian Church dates its connection to the Holy Land from the 4th century. The Ethiopian rite is an Africanized form of the Egyptian Coptic rite and is practiced in the Ge’ez language. The Ethiopian Church has 33 popular and picturesque feast days for the Blessed Virgin. The exotic music of this feast day was recorded live at the Ethiopian Church in Jerusalem.

Segments of the Liturgy in honor of the Blessed Virgin were recorded live in the Ethiopian Church in May 1997.
